Christ the King Home School Cooperative is a cooperative homeschool effort within the membership of Christ Church that is church supervised, father led, post millennial, Christocentric, and formed by the worship of the Triune God; and which prepares our sons and daughters for their distinct work and roles in the world.
For upper (10th–12th grade) and middle (7th–9th grade) schools, our co–op functions similar to a university model, meeting for tutor–led classes one day per week with an established curriculum that students complete at home. The at–home portion is not intended to be parent intensive but parental engagement is encouraged. The co–op covers humanities and science but does not address math or any extra–curriculars such as music and sports.
For lower (K–6th grade) school, we function more like a traditional co–operative. We meet for class on the same day as the upper and middle schools, but class oversight is a shared responsibility among the mothers of our co–op’s lower–school students. Class day is activity–driven rather than curriculum–driven, and we expect that parents with different curriculum preferences may choose to use different curricula at home.
